Nagar Valley

Nagar (Urdu:نگر), also known as Oyum. Nagar in Burushaski and Nagar Khas in Urdu,is one of the largest towns in the Nagar District in Gilgit–BaltistanPakistan. Situated on the bank of the Nagar river, it is the former capital of the princely state of Nagar.
Nagar Valley also known as Nagar Khas is a valley near Hunza Valley in the Nagar District of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan.

IMPORTANCE OF VALLEY:

Today, the famous Karakoram Highway crosses Nagar, connecting Pakistan to China via the Khunjerab Pass. The road follows the Hunza-Nagar River for some distance through Nagar and into the Hunza region.

FESTIVAL OF NAGAR:

The local festivals, besides religious days, are Ushayas, Ginani, Thamo-bow, Halden etc. On the occasion of these events the National Game of this region “Polo” – the king of matches and match of the kings, which is the most famous game in this valley is played among different teams.

Hoper valley:


Hoper Valley is a part of Nagar Valley and is at nearly 10 KM from Nagar Khas, the capital of Nagar Valley. Nagar Valley is situated at an altitude of about 8000 feet (2,438m) and is also one of the most beautiful and scenic valleys of this region. Hopar Valley is the site of the Rush Lake, Bwaltar Peak, Kapldongs, Shaltar Peak, Hispar Muztagh, Spantik, Barpu, Bualtar and Hopar (Hopper) glaciers.

While Hoper valley is far away from Gilgit main city but very charming and tourists attraction spot and ancient history belongs to this land.
